Personalized Portal Dashboards

As technology evolves, companies are enhancing their websites to attract current and new clients. Rather than relying solely on a public website, competitive companies will invest in web portals providing personalized information accessible only to the company’s client base. Realized Solutions designed a web portal for one of our clients and is in the process of introducing multiple enhancements to help increase user traffic and usability.

In the initial iteration, the client’s web portal provided access to documents pertaining to specific user types and gave users the ability to upload files to the client. This level of personalization gives users easy access to files that formerly required a formal request via email, phone, or fax to procure. With the recent changes made by RSI, users logging into the Portal will be greeted by a variety of data points tailored to that individual’s needs and conditions. By assembling everything important to the user in this data dashboard, RSI supplied users with the ability to see everything in one place.

Every user has different priorities and data setups, so RSI looks at additional enhancements to the portal dashboards to make everything user-friendly. Each data table could potentially feature dozens of rows depending on the user’s involvement with multiple programs and employees/employers, tables have been programmed to be expandable and minimized when the user clicks the table header. Users can minimize tables that are not needed in that moment and expand other tables to further customize the look and navigation of their portal dashboard. Mobile users were included during development, as specific user bases rely on their phone as their main means of web access. By ensuring both mobile and desktop users can access this information and customize it to their needs, we are effectively providing users with more accountability and ownership of their data.

Providing the user more access to review their own information saves time for all involved parties. From the user’s perspective, having the information readily available reduces the amount of time needed to address any questions and/or requests users may have and enables them to return to other daily priorities faster than if they invested time in directly contacting the organization to solicit the information. Similarly, the redirection of user attention provides effective triaging for the company, freeing up phone lines and customer service specialists’ attention to address other pressing concerns. Since RSI’s client deals with a multitude of users and needs, the new user dashboards should increase our client’s coverage of user needs while reducing the number of direct user requests.

In addition to consolidating essential information in one place, the web portal provides a layer of security that would not be possible with a traditional web site. Increasing the amount of valuable user data on a web page could be a security risk if that data can be accessed by any user outside of the company. Thanks to the requirement of user login credentials, that data is protected and only available to the client and the user.

By expanding the client’s web portal’s capabilities through personalized dashboards, RSI provides the client and its users a more streamlined data management approach. Through this effort, we believe this will increase user traffic and user reliance on the web portal to manage requests and attract new state partnerships to expand our client’s business.
